AREAS OF INTERVENTION

A. DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANCY

  1. Socio-economic studies
  • Natural environment studies;
  • Vulnerability assessment of rural and urban communities;
  • Food security assessment (agricultural production, availability and accessibility of food products);
  • Nutritional and food technology studies.

2. Environmental Studies

  • Strategic environmental assessment (policy, program, plan, etc.);
  • Environmental impact assessments of development projects (EIA);
  • Environmental impacts of primary sector projects (agriculture, livestock, fisheries, etc.);
  • The environmental impact of industrialization;
  • Land use planning, management and decentralization.

B. DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING

  • Contingency planning, disaster mitigation and response;
  • In many countries, development efforts are often reduced to zero by the effects of climatic hazards and human conflicts. To remedy this situation and enable sustainable development, a contingency and response plan for calamities and conflicts is always necessary and takes into account the following elements:
  • Characterization of each development zone;
  • Definition of vulnerability indicators;
  • Study of the potential of communities and the development zone;
  • Needs assessment;
  • Support for disaster management committees at community level;
  • Drawing up a contingency budget;
  • Drawing up a contingency plan;
  • Site characterization for the creation of camps for refugees and internal displaced persons.

C. DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

The most important asset in the development process is people. CAPED therefore proposes to strengthen the capacity of development partners in the following areas:

  • Project management;
  • Human resources management;
  • Methodologies for designing, managing and evaluating development projects (MARP, ZOPP Logical Framework, GRAP, etc.);
  • Computer science (Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Team up, Access, SPSS, PPCC, PDA, etc.);
  • Design and production of training products on request;
  • Facilitation of sectoral and strategic brainstorming sessions;
  • Identification of leadership and human resources capabilities and recruitment processes.
